Broadcasting Club Makes History with Live Broadcast
Milwaukee, WI (April 27,2004) - The Broadcasting Club at UWM will once again
make history this Sunday with the first live student broadcast of a UWM
sporting event.
The club members will be broadcasting a men’s double-header Panther baseball
series live from the Miller Park press box Sunday afternoon, May 2nd. The
game will be broadcast over the Internet, available by clicking on the live
broadcast button on the club’s website, www.pawstv3.com.
Many are looking forward to this broadcast. “This is a really exciting
time, not only because it's a first for the University, but because of the
important real world experience these students are gaining,” said Mark
Zoromski, co-advisor of the Broadcasting Club.
With a grant from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and hard work from
the Broadcast Club members, live broadcasts are now possible. This will be
the first of what the Broadcasting Club hopes to be a series of live
broadcasts, not only of Panther baseball games, but all other University
sports as well, including soccer, basketball, and others.
The Broadcasting Club at UWM, a new club formed in the fall semester of
2003, has about 70 members. Since the beginning of the spring semester, the
Broadcasting Club has taped programs in the television studio located in the
basement of Cunningham Hall. The Broadcasting Club’s programs air on its
new student television station, PawsTV3. The station can be found on campus
cable channel 3.
